Introduction

Nesto Limited ("we," "us," or "our") operates Nesto Camera Health. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our service.

Information We Collect

We may collect the following types of information:

  • Account information you provide when registering (such as email address and display name)
  • Ring device status and activity event metadata received through your authorized account link
  • Subscription and billing status mirrored from the Ring Appstore
  • Notification preferences you configure within the service
  • Usage data related to how you interact with the service
  • Technical data such as device type, browser, and IP address

Ring-Related Data

When you link your Ring account, we process device status, device metadata, motion and activity event metadata, account linking information, and service preferences as needed to provide the service. Specifically:

  • Ring-related data is used only to provide device health monitoring, activity summaries, availability awareness, image quality awareness, and related service functionality
  • Ring-related data is not sold
  • Ring-related data is not used for advertising
  • Ring-related data is not used for facial recognition
  • Ring-related data is not used for identity recognition or person identification
  • Ring-related data is not used for content analysis of who or what appears in your video or images
  • Ring-related data is not used to train general-purpose AI models without explicit disclosure and your consent
  • We do not store video, audio, or any camera recordings. We do not retain image frames.

Image Quality Monitoring

To help you notice when a camera's view becomes dim, overexposed, blurred, or possibly obstructed, Nesto Camera Health performs a once-per-day image quality check for each of your cameras:

  • Once per day, we fetch the most recent still snapshot of each camera through Ring's official partner API
  • The snapshot is processed in memory using a local, rule-based image analysis library — no machine learning models, no person or object recognition, no content analysis of who or what is in the image
  • The analysis produces a small number of scalar quality metrics (such as average brightness, blur level, and an obstruction indicator)
  • The image bytes are discarded immediately after the metrics are computed and are never written to disk, never logged, and never transmitted to any third party
  • Only the resulting numeric quality metrics and a status label (e.g., "clear", "dim", "overexposed", "possibly obstructed") are stored, alongside the camera identifier and timestamp
  • The temporary pre-signed image URL provided by Ring is never logged or persisted

This feature exists so we can show you a per-camera image quality status alongside the connection health score. It is part of "device health awareness" and is not a security, surveillance, or recognition feature.

Subscription Data

When you subscribe to Nesto Camera Health through the Ring Appstore, we receive and store subscription state information from Ring, including:

  • Subscription plan tier (Solo or Multi) and billing cycle (monthly)
  • Subscription type (paid or trial) and current status (active, expired, or trial expired)
  • Subscription start and expiry dates
  • For Solo subscriptions: the Ring device ID you have selected to track

This information is used solely to determine which features and devices you have access to within the service. We do not store payment card details or billing addresses — all payment processing is handled by Ring.

Notification Preferences

We store your email notification preferences (critical alerts, daily digest, weekly summary) and an opaque unsubscribe token associated with your account. This information is used only to send or suppress the email types you have chosen. You can update your preferences at any time from within the app or by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email we send.

How We Use Information

We use collected information to:

  • Provide and maintain the Nesto Camera Health service
  • Generate device health scores, image quality status, alerts, and activity summaries
  • Send email notifications you have opted into (critical alerts, digests, trial reminders)
  • Enforce subscription access controls (plan tier, device coverage)
  • Communicate with you about your account and service updates
  • Improve and develop our service

Account Linking

When you link your Ring account, you authorize Nesto Camera Health to access device status and activity event metadata from your Ring devices. This authorization is established through Ring's official OAuth flow. You may revoke this access at any time through your Ring account settings or by contacting us at support@nestoops.com.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service.

When your subscription is deactivated (cancelled, expired, trial ended without conversion, or Ring connection removed), we retain your data for 90 days to allow you to reactivate without losing your health history. After 90 days of inactivity, all data associated with your account is permanently deleted, including:

  • Your partner account and session records
  • Ring OAuth tokens stored by Nesto
  • Device records, webhook events, and health snapshots
  • Image quality metrics (numeric scalars only — no images are ever stored)
  • Alert history and notification delivery records
  • Subscription records and notification preferences

Additional automatic cleanup rules:

  • Incomplete account linking: If you begin the Ring account linking process but do not complete it, any temporary OAuth tokens are automatically deleted within 24 hours.
  • Incomplete registration: If you register an account but never complete Ring linking or start a subscription, your account is automatically deleted after 90 days of inactivity.
  • Ring connection removal: If you remove Nesto Camera Health from your Ring account, your data enters the same 90-day retention window described above. If you reconnect within 90 days, your data is preserved and monitoring resumes automatically.

You may also request immediate deletion of your data at any time via the Delete my data option within the app, or by contacting support@nestoops.com. Deletion removes all data Nesto stores about you and does not affect your Ring account itself.

Data Sharing and Service Providers

We may share information with third-party service providers who assist us in operating the service (such as cloud hosting and email delivery providers). These providers are contractually obligated to use your data only as necessary to provide services to us and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes. We do not sell your data.

Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS). However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Choices and Deletion Requests

You may:

  • Update your notification preferences at any time from within the app
  • Unsubscribe from any email type using the link in any email we send
  • Revoke Ring account access through your Ring account settings
  • Request immediate deletion of your account and all associated data via the Delete my data page within the app
  • Contact us at support@nestoops.com with any questions or deletion requests

International Users

Nesto Limited is based in Hong Kong. If you access the service from outside Hong Kong, your information may be transferred to and processed in Hong Kong or other jurisdictions where our service providers operate. By using the service, you consent to such transfers.

Children's Privacy

The service is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page with a revised effective date. Your continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
